He was a Veteran American Revolution, Private from Virginia. Samuel Dillon was born in Va. or possibly Ireland. His estate inventory is dated March 11, 1836 in Franklin County, Va. indicating he could have died in 1835. Samuel served as a private in the military service of Virginia during the American Revolution. He is on the Militia List of 1783 for Montgomery County, Va. with Captain George Pearis, Commanding. Samuel and Chloe had at least eight children, all born in Franklin County, Va. Samuel Dillon is listed in the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Index, Volume II, Page 58.

McCager brought his family to Ohio in 1831 by making an overland journey crossing the Ohio River at Millersport, Oh. McCager settled in Lawrence County where he bought a tract of land in Windsor Township that was still primitive wilderness. McCager and Mary cleared the land, farmed and reared their eight children there.

McCager, known as Kager, Kay, or K.K. during his lifetime, married Paulina Jane "Sanders" Lewis about 1896. Paulina was widowed at the time with four children from her previous marriage to George W. Lewis; Joshua C., George S., John C., and Hartley. McCager and Paulina had five children, only three of whom survived to adulthood. Lucy Kingery died in infancy and Benjamin died after being shot in the temple while hunting in Lawrence County at the age of eighteen. Both children are buried in the Kingry Cemetery. Lucy's grave is not marked. McCager, known as one of the best square cut stone masons in the area, also farmed, taught school and worked as cooper. He died at the age of 75 yrs., 9 mos., and 26 days. He was listed as a resident in the census report in Windsor Twp., Lawrence Co., OH, in 1900.

Jerome moved to Clark County, Oh. from Lawrence County in 1923 bringing his parents and siblings with him. Jerome's father, McCager Kingery, died the following year and was buried with his parents and grandparents in the Kingry Cemetery in Lawrence County. Jerome's first employment in the Springfield area was at the McKenzie Lumber Company. He worked there with his half brother, Joshua Lewis, who had been in Clark County since about 1921. Jerome was hired by the International Harvester Company in 1934 where he worked in the truck assembly plant until he retired. Jerome farmed and built houses on the side most of his adult life. After the death of his first wife, Jerome hired Corinne Swope to keep house and stay with his children while he worked. The nation was in the middle of the great depression and Corinne was separated from her husband, Luther, by economic necessity. Luther Swope could not find work and could not support Corinne and their young son, Carl. The homeless family moved to Springfield from Detroit hoping to stay with Corinne's mother but Mrs. Wolcott would not permit Luther to stay or possibly did not have the means to support all three. Therefore, Luther returned to Detroit to look for work while Corinne and Carl stayed with Corinne's mother. Corinne became pregnant with Ronnie while keeping house for Jerome and moved back to Detroit when the baby was due to avoid a scandal. When the baby was born, Corinne gave the baby the Swope name. Corinne and Luther divorced shortly after Ronnie was born and Corinne married Jerome in 1937. Luther never accepted the child as his, which it wasn't, and Corinne never allowed Jerome to claim the child as his own, even after they were married. Of all Jerome's children, Ronnie bears the most striking resemblance to Jerome.

Samuel served as a private in the military service of Virginia during the American Revolution. He is on the Militia List of 1783 for Montgomery County, Va. with Captain George Pearis, Commanding. Samuel and Chloe had at least eight children, all born in Franklin County, Va. Samuel Dillon is listed in the Daughters of the American Revolution Patriot Index, Volume II, Page 58.

McCager brought his family to Ohio in 1831 by making an overland journey crossing the Ohio River at Millersport, Oh. McCager settled in Lawrence County where he bought a tract of land in Windsor Township that was still primitive wilderness. McCager, known as Kager, Kay, or K.K. during his lifetime, married Paulina Jane "Sanders" Lewis about 1896. Paulina was widowed at the time with four children from her previous marriage to George W. Lewis; Joshua C., George S., John C., and Hartley. McCager and Paulina had five children, only three of whom survived to adulthood. Lucy Kingery died in infancy and Benjamin died after being shot in the temple while hunting in Lawrence County at the age of eighteen. Both children are buried in the Kingry Cemetery. Lucy's grave is not marked. McCager, known as one of the best square cut stone masons in the area, also farmed, taught school and worked as cooper. He died at the age of 75 yrs., 9 mos., and 26 days. He was listed as a resident in the census report in Windsor Twp., Lawrence Co., OH, in 1900.

Jerome moved to Clark County, Oh. from Lawrence County in 1923 bringing his parents and siblings with him. Jerome's father, McCager Kingery, died the following year and was buried with his parents and grandparents in the Kingry Cemetery in Lawrence County. Jerome's first employment in the Springfield area was at the McKenzie Lumber Company. He worked there with his half brother, Joshua Lewis, who had been in Clark County since about 1921. Jerome was hired by the International Harvester Company in 1934 where he worked in the truck assembly plant until he retired. Jerome farmed and built houses on the side most of his adult life. After the death of his first wife, Jerome hired Corinne Swope to keep house and stay with his children while he worked. The nation was in the middle of the great depression and Corinne was separated from her husband, Luther, by economic necessity. Luther Swope could not find work and could not support Corinne and their young son, Carl. The homeless family moved to Springfield from Detroit hoping to stay with Corinne's mother but Mrs. Wolcott would not permit Luther to stay or possibly did not have the means to support all three. Therefore, Luther returned to Detroit to look for work while Corinne and Carl stayed with Corinne's mother. Corinne became pregnant with Ronnie while keeping house for Jerome and moved back to Detroit when the baby was due to avoid a scandal. When the baby was born, Corinne gave the baby the Swope name. Corinne and Luther divorced shortly after Ronnie was born and Corinne married Jerome in 1937. Luther never accepted the child as his, which it wasn't, and Corinne never allowed Jerome to claim the child as his own, even after they were married. Of all Jerome's children, Ronnie bears the most striking resemblance to Jerome.
