1. Peter1 Peterson (286). Peter (286) was born circa 1735. Peter (286) died in Butler Co., PA. His body was interred in Butler Co., PA, in North Cemetery.
He was a Veteran French and Indian War and American Revolution. Peter was one of six survivors of a company of eighty men who were in the hottest of the fight at Braddocks's Defeat in 1755. Pennsylvania Archives (3rd. Ser., Vol. 23, P. 272) show Peter Peterson, a Forest Ranger and Veteran of the American Revolution, received a land grant March 5, 1787 in the Haley Tract in what is now Butler County, Pa. Peter and other members of his family are buried in the old section of the North Cemetery, Butler, Pa. He was farmer.

8. Elizabeth Jane3 Gray (53) (Margaret2 Peterson, Peter1). Elizabeth (53) was born in (twin), Butler Co., PA, on 28 Aug 1818. She married James Brown (52) in Butler Co., PA, circa 1835. Elizabeth (53) died on 5 Aug 1890 in Camp Creek Twp., Pike Co., OH, at age 71.
Elizabeth, pregnant with her eighth child, was badly shaken by her husband's death. However, with the help of the Browns and other good neighbors, she was able to keep her family together and continued farming in Camp Creek Township. The Civil War brought yet another tragedy to Elizabeth and her family when son, Matthew, was killed at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, Ga. in 1864. William, James, Thomas and Sarah were all veterans of the war. Sarah, venturesome and headstrong, enlisted and served until wounded and sent home. Using the age shown on the death record, Elizabeth would have been born Aug. 28, 1811. Note:__The 1880 Ohio Census for Pike County, Camp Creek Twp., shows Eliza J. Brown, age 68, living with her nephew, Isaiah Gray, age 36, a farmer born in Pennsylvania.

John Osborn Brown, later told his children that, as a boy, he would ride his bicycle to Springfield on Saturdays from his parent's home on River Rd.

Dick's parents separated about 1928 and he was reared by his mother, spending some time with his grandfather, Elijah Shockey. He started spelling his last name "Browne" because of a clerical error made in 1941 after going to work for the New York Central Railroad. He had to add the "e" to his signature to cash payroll checks and used that spelling from then on. He was a Veteran W.W.II, U.S. Army, Persian Gulf Campaign.

He was a Veteran U.S.M.C. Rick became ill with cancer while stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station at Beaufort, S.C. about 1963. He was retired from the Marine Corps on disablity and died of cancer five years later. After Rick's death, Barbara moved to California with the children to be near her parents. She later remarried and contact with her and the children was lost. He was Ret. U.S.M.C.

He married Izetta May Laveck (14) in IN in 1937. Norman (1) was divorced from Izetta May Laveck (14) in Springfield, Clark Co., OH, on 4 Apr 1944. He married Dorothy Jeanne Kingery (2) in Marion, IN, on 9 Aug 1945. Norman (1) died on 10 Jan 1997 in Springfield Community Hospital, Clark Co., OH, at age 77. His body was interred in Clark Co., OH, in Vernon Asbury Cemetery.
Dick's parents separated about 1928 and he was reared by his mother, spending some time with his grandfather, Elijah Shockey. He started spelling his last name "Browne" because of a clerical error made in 1941 after going to work for the New York Central Railroad. He had to add the "e" to his signature to cash payroll checks and used that spelling from then on. He was a Veteran W.W.II, U.S. Army, Persian Gulf Campaign.

He was a Veteran U.S.M.C. Rick became ill with cancer while stationed at the U.S. Naval Air Station at Beaufort, S.C. about 1963. He was retired from the Marine Corps on disablity and died of cancer five years later. After Rick's death, Barbara moved to California with the children to be near her parents. She later remarried and contact with her and the children was lost. He was Ret. U.S.M.C.
